Chicken Feet
One of the favorite activities for teams when they are visiting is for them to try some authentic South African foods. Our Bethesda cleaning officianado, Dorah, is happy to prepare and serve such fun foods and gets great joy out of the expressions that follow such delacacies. While the Cedarville team was here, Dorah prepared chicken feet, also known as run aways, AND mopane worms for lunch on separate days. Heather and I were unable to join the team for lunch on most days due to our school dismissal times, but for some reason, this was not a good enough excuse for use to get out of the fun foods that we had managed to avoid for 8.5 months. Becky and Dorah were more than happy to bring such wonderful items over to school, not only so we could try them, but so we could try them in front of our students. Let’s just say the mopane worms were not nearly as terrible as the chicken feet, hence the lack of mopane worm pictures….it was much more fun for everyone to watch me try to eat the nasty chewy feet than the crunchy worm that tasted like a sunflower seed shell. Hope you enjoy some of the action shots. 🙂
Thanks for recounting Bethesda’s version of “Survivor Africa”!! Obviously some parts of your job are more fun than others-he he:)
