Traditional Food Monday
Part of my responsibility here at Bethesda is to assist with preparing meals for the ministry teams that visit our village. This team is a little different than a few of our other teams in that they have arrived during school holidays so I have been helping a little bit more than usual. Today was my day to prepare lunch. My assistant for the day in the kitchen was Dorah, our Bethesda cleaning officianado. Dorah also takes great delight in preparing traditional South African delicacies for our guests and watching them cringe as they eat them. So today…Dorah prepared here favourite South African Treats, Runaways (chicken feet), Mopani worms, mealie pap, and Chaka-laka. Whilst Dorah was busy preparing her traditional lunch, I fixed up a baked potato bar. Which one would you enjoy the most?
- Mopani Worms in the pot
- Dorah with her spread
- The Runaways
- Baked Potato Bar
I definitely could have lived a long time without seeing what mopani worms look like before they get to the ready to be eaten stage… Very glad I didn’t have to eat the runaways this time! 🙂
