SCHOOL’S OUT!

December 12, 2009

I don’t have a lot of pictures to upload and show you because I’ve been absolutely TOO busy to shoot any, but I did want to let you know that we finished up our 2009 school year yesterday. It was a very busy end to the year spent with many LATE nights of getting papers graded and entered and then report cards done to go home with the children on the last day of school. We finished up our last week with final exams on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday we did a track and field day where the kids took part in a variety of races and field events where actually I taught them a little bit about throwing the shot put and discuss. It had been a very, very long time and a couple surgeries since I had tried to throw the shot put…let’s just say my body didn’t quite remember how to use some of the muscles required for those techniques. On Friday we wrapped up school by turning in all our textbooks and having an awards/graduation programme where students in the higher grades were honoured for some special achievements and the Grade R (Kindergarten) students went through a graduation ceremony. It was a whirlwind end to a whirlwind year.

What do I do now?  Take a break, relax, enjoy the holiday season? Sorry folks! There isn’t really time for the weary to rest for more than a couple days. It’s time to get ready for next year’s invasion and the chaos that my classroom will be next year with almost double the number of students (from 9 to 17) and double the number of grade levels in my room (still the same age group, but the needs in my classroom range from a grade2/3 group a grade 5 group a grade 6 group and then a grade 7/8 group). I am looking forward to the challenge and praying with confidence that God will provide the strength and wisdom for each day! Gotta go for today only 33 days until I have new students in my class!
