Track Meets

This past weekend, Heather and I had the opportunity to encourage two of our older Bethesda children by attending their athletics (track) meet. We have had the chance to see Gomolemo run several times, but this was the first time we’ve seen Sipho run. We had a wonderful time cheering on the boys and what made it even better was that it was a meet at their school, which is close by Bethesda, so the Shikwambane family was also able to attend.

Gomolemo is a grade 11 sprinter, and to be honest a very good one! On Saturday, he ran the 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 4x100m relay. He won every race he ran, which was fun for his family to be able to see. Sipho is in grade 10 and is somewhat of a utility man…he runs whatever needs to be run. Normally he runs shorter distances, but on Saturday, the school’s normal mid and longer distance runner (another Bethesda child) was at a national meet, so Sipho ran the 800m and the 1500m for him. Sipho wasn’t quite up to the 1500m challenge as much as he was in his 3rd place 800m run, but he was also on the first place 4x100m relay team.

Hope you enjoy some pictures of the boys in action as well as some excited spectators!
